Rockies Hockey League

Juvenile Division for 2019/2020

Jul. 06 - 2019

Hello Everyone,

The RHL is pleased to announce that we will be hosting the long awaited Juvenile Division for the 2019-2020 season and Associations can now open registration for the Juvenile division.

Please accept our thanks for your support of this initiative that will enable young adults in our communities to continue to play the game they love and bridge the gap between minor hockey and beer league.

Hockey Alberta has notified us that they will be making amendments to include Juvenile, and further details will be made available when the 2019/2020 Regulations are released.  The Member Services team at Hockey Alberta have been updated on the status of this initiative and will be preparing registration and discipline documents.

Hockey Alberta has reminded us that any MHA’s wishing to participate in the Juvenile Division MUST amend their Bylaws and or Policies to include “Juvenile” should their Bylaws/Policies identify the specific age divisions.

Please use the following information to assist when determining your registration fees:

  • H/A Team/Player Registration and Insurance fees will be the same or similar to Junior C Male rates
  • RHL Team Registration will remain the same as all other divisions
  • Season will be Oct 11 to Feb 29, with approximately 16-20 game schedule
  • 2 Hour Ice Permits with 1 flood

  • Game times can be late evening however consideration must be given for travel of the visiting team and day of the week.  Ice Schedulers can contact the RHL Administrator with questions or to review ice times
  • Referees
  • Level 2 and 3 officials will be sufficient
  • H/A will add Juvenile into their payment schedule (it will end up being somewhere between the Junior C and Midget fee)
  • Practice Ice is at the MHA’s discretion.
  • Most associations will likely be providing some early season practice/scrimmage ice to get teams started and provide only game ice thereafter.

  • Overage players are permitted to a maximum of 5 overage 21 year old players per team (unless otherwise approved by the league)
  • Typically 1 game per week - practices are optional

We kindly ask that let us know if you will be opening registration for Juvenile and keep us abreast of your registration numbers.  The league will be posting an announcement on the RHL Website regarding Juvenile and will be actively working to spread the word in our communities to promote registration.
