U9 Showcase

For 2022/23 season U9 teams will have the opportunity to play additional teams from other association with the expansion of showcase weekends.  These showcase weekends are currently being set-up and scheduled for the season, and we will update the U9 members as information becomes available.  Near the end of the season teams will also have the opportunity to participate in full-ice games as we support the transition into U11 hockey.

U11 HADP - U11 AA

For the 2022/23 hockey season, Hockey Alberta is expanding the U11 AA program province wide including a January U11 AA showcase tournament in Red Deer.  The OMHA is excited for these changes and will provide the U11 membership with full details as we wait for further instruction from Hockey Alberta.  Separate tryouts for the U11 AA team will be posted shortly.  We are now accepting coach application for the U11 AA team and they can be found on our website.

U11 Female B

Meetings continue with other associations to structure a competitive environment for the U11 Female B teams to play in.  Last year the OMHA hosted two U11 Female Teams and will review this further upon registration numbers and conversations with other associations.  In addition to this, the OMHA has put together a U11 Female task force to help with the development of this program.

U11 & U13 House Programs

For the 2022/23 the OMHA will be revamping the evaluation, team selection and development process offering a competitive fun environment for all participants.  Information will be updated on our website upon completion of the added value changes to these programs.

U13 Tier 1

This year U13 Tier 1 team and upon completion of the team selection process will move straight into league play.  Hockey Alberta has removed the tiering round and teams will jump into league play immediately.  With many associations including Okotoks moving to one U13 AA team, the competitive level will be increased in the Tier 1 division.

U16 CAHL Team

The OMHA is eager to announce the addition of a U16 Tier CAHL team for the upcoming season.  This will be a new division offered in CAHL and Okotoks Minor Hockey will host (1) one team for the 2022/23 season.  If your player is born in 2007 and interested in trying out for this new Team please select U16 when registering.

U18 CAHL Tier 4

Hockey Alberta has made the change entering the 2022/23 season that all teams tiering in group FOUR (4) will now play non-contact hockey.  This year the OMHA team will participate in the CAHL division providing that registration meets the required number of players needed to form a full team.  If registration in U18 has decreased players will be placed in non-contact RHL Division.
